ReStory Chill Electronics Repairs Save Location Guide
The ReStory Chill Electronics Repairs save location on Windows, how the five rotating save slots work, and how to restore an earlier save safely.
On Windows, ReStory keeps its saves here:
%UserProfile%\AppData\LocalLow\Mandragora\Restory\SaveData
Paste that straight into the Explorer address bar — %UserProfile% expands on its own, so you do not need to substitute your username. The game keeps five rotating saves, and the highest-numbered one is the most recent.
Finding the folder
AppData is hidden by default in Windows. If you are navigating manually rather than pasting the path, enable hidden items in Explorer's View options first, otherwise the folder will appear not to exist.
Pasting the full path avoids that entirely, which is why it is the recommended route.
How the rotation works
Rather than a single save file, the game maintains a set of five, numbered, with the highest number being newest. Older states are pushed out as new ones are written.
That rotation is what makes recovery possible at all — a single bad save does not immediately destroy your earlier states. But it also means the window is finite. If something has gone wrong, stop playing, because continuing rotates the save you actually want out of existence.
Restoring an earlier save
The publisher maintains an official support article covering how to restore a previous save, and that is the right first stop. It reflects the current file layout, which a third-party write-up may not.
The general shape of the process:
- Close the game completely. Editing files under a running game is how you end up with two conflicting states.
- Copy the entire
SaveDatafolder somewhere else first. This is your undo. - Identify the save you want by its number, remembering that higher is newer.
- Restore it following the official instructions.
Step 2 is not optional. Recovering from a mistake made during recovery is considerably worse than the problem you started with.
Other platforms
The game ships for Windows and macOS, and community references covering save locations describe paths for macOS and Steam Deck alongside the Windows one.
待确认: The exact macOS and Steam Deck paths are not reproduced here because they have not been verified first-hand in the material gathered. The Windows path above is the one that has been confirmed.
Demo saves do not carry over
Progress from the demo does not transfer into the full game. This was addressed directly in the Steam discussions, with the explanation being that the full release changed substantially enough that carrying demo saves forward was not supported.
If you played the demo, plan on starting fresh. See the demo page for the current status of the demo itself.
Backing up before a branching decision
Because the endings are shaped by decisions spread across the run, keeping a manual copy of the SaveData folder at a visible fork is the low-risk way to see more than one outcome without a full replay.
This matters for completion too — some achievements are missable and a few require separate playthroughs. A folder copy is simpler and safer than editing anything. See the achievements guide.
Before you edit anything
Editing saves directly is possible, but treat it as a one-way door:
- Back up the entire folder first, not just the file you intend to change.
- Expect edits to break with patches, since the format can change between versions.
- Assume any achievement earned on an edited save is suspect.
If your goal is simply to try a different branch, keeping a manual copy of the folder at the decision point achieves the same thing without the risk.
If your save appears corrupted
Stop playing immediately so the rotation does not overwrite your remaining good states. Copy the whole folder somewhere safe before attempting anything, then work through the official restore instructions against the numbered saves from newest backwards.
The official support documentation is more reliable here than community advice, because it is maintained against the current build rather than whatever the format looked like at launch.
待确认: The macOS and Steam Deck save paths, the internal save file format, whether Steam Cloud sync is enabled for this title and how to force or disable it, and the behaviour when the five-slot rotation is full are all unconfirmed in the material gathered and are deliberately not guessed at here.
